Freshman?

I’m at Parents Weekend for my daughter, who is a freshman in college. My wife and I are staying at a Courtyard by Marriott, and the place is filled with other visiting parents. It is so easy to start a conversation. All it takes is an interrogative, “Freshman?”

In a world which seems so polarized, it is easy to forget that most people have more in common than not. Maybe if we focused more on those commonalities, cutting across socioeconomic and political divides, the world will come a little closer together.
